In this video we see a child exploring magnetic shape figures to build a structure, as guided by the instructor. The child is surprised when he observes the educator use two triangles to make a square. The child attempts to do the same , but faces some difficulty when realizing that not all the triangles in the magnetic set were the same. The child was learning to distinguish between the triangle and its non-prototype version. Through trial and error, eventually the child finds two of the same triangles to form the square.
In this video we see a child using a template frame of a star. Within the frame, the child uses blocks and examines various shapes that can be used in the space the compose the star. Through free exploration, the child is able to make several variations of the stars using different shapes in the formation process.
